The Android Marketplace has been converted to Google Play. So we have updated the website to reflect this and will now be instructing Android users to get ChemDoodle Mobile on Google Play.

Android 4 Support

We have received a lot of questions about support for Android 4. ChemDoodle Mobile is built with web components that require the Android browser to function. However, since Android version 3.0, performance of the Android browser has been less than satisfactory, resulting in very slow performance for ChemDoodle Mobile. Therefore, we have held off on releasing ChemDoodle Mobile for these platforms.

That being said, Chrome for Android will become the new default browser for Android, and Chrome powers ChemDoodle Mobile with excellent performance. As soon as Chrome is officially released, we will be able to release ChemDoodle Mobile for Android. Thank you for your patience!

ChemDoodle Mobile v1.2.3 is now available on the Android Market. This minor update just brings compatibility with the latest updates to Android 2.

ChemDoodle Mobile v1.2.2 is now available on the Apple App Store and the Android Market.

Support for the iOS retina display.
App now properly launches in landscape mode, and the issues with page sizing after starting in landscape mode have been resolved.
Username is now remembered, even if the app is restarted.
Fixed scrolling on the calculate page.
Draw page now shows the menu in landscape mode.
Minor interface and performance improvements.

ChemDoodle Mobile v1.2.1 is now available for Android, fixing all known issues. Version 1.2.1 for the iPhone will follow after iOS 5 is released.

What’s in this version:

Issues related to launching the app in landscape mode have been resolved.
Fixed problem where pressing items in the menu would also activate items below the menu.
Fixed scrolling on the calculate page.

ChemDoodle Mobile 1.1 Released

ChemDoodle Mobile v1.1 is now available on the Apple App Store. ChemDoodle Mobile for Android is still under development, and should hopefully be ready soon.

Username is now saved when logging out to ease logging back in.
Element list and periodic table are now provided to choose all element labels for sketching. This button replaces the hydrogen label button in the Atoms toolbar.
Spectra now return back to the original scale when reloaded.
Y-axis grids are now displayed for the NMR spectra.
X-axis now intelligently lays out tick labels so they don’t overlap.
Improved borders for spectra.
Added missing help sections.
Fixed issue to handle weird characters in save file names.
Fixed bug where the interface would appear permanently zoomed in if the accessibility zoom setting is enabled.
